Target: Student academic success relies on a commitment to self improvement. Using the mobile lab students will log-on and check their PSAT scores. This will allow them to see areas where they need improvement and give them access to College Board tools. The presentation will be lead by the AVID Site Team counselor.

Target: "Continued Public Speaking Lesson"
Public speaking and confidence in front of a group does not come without practice. Students will choose ten topics from a list and then place them in our "Lucky" green hat. Randomly students will choose a topic from the hat and give a one minute impromptu speech. Observing students will be looking for the following.

1. Greeting/Intro./Purpose/Brief Outlines of Lesson/Laptop distribution
2. Brief assessment of student awareness re: Career Pathways
3. Students give brief demonstrations (in pairs, using laptop and projector) of chosen occupations including post-secondary education/apprenticeship site required, job forecast, salary expectations, etc.; other students can ask questions at the end of their presentation
4. Brief written re-assessment (post-test) of student awareness re: 5 Career Pathways and self-check re: did your original choice change during this unit?
