Week #5 Homecoming

9-28-09

Target: Students will revisit their three year plan. Through the use of collaboration and evaluation students will adjust and expand their academic goals for the next six years. The expansion of these goals will center around community service and academic involvement.

Target: Students will develop a method for Prewriting. By breaking down the steps needed to complete an organized essay, students will work on their six year plan.

Target: Students will work cooperatively to learn the process of logging onto the school network. In pairs students will work on identifying essential steps necessary to completing their six year plan.

Target: Students will hear from our AVID Site Team Counselor. While taking Cornell Notes students will document the necessary steps needed to prepare for the future. During this time students will be asked to present questions about their six year plan. Students should be prepared to bring a Level Three question about their six year plan.

Week #4 AVID

Target: Students will develop their time management by analyzing their week. Using a backwards mapping technique and their time management notes students will develop an organized method for mapping out their time.

Target: Students will work cooperatively to develop a method for presenting and asking questions during Tutorials. Through the process students will begin the inquiry into what it takes to be the ideal student and tutor.

Target: Students will begin the process of goal setting. Students will use the inquiry process to examine their dreams. After establishing their long term goals, students will begin breaking down the short term goals that are necessary to achieve their long term goals.

Week #3 AVID

Target: Students will work in small peer groups and develop an organized method for inquiry. Through the use of Costa's Levels of Questions students will develop their inquiry skills using the fairy tale Cinderella.

Target: Students will bring to class a completed Tutorial Request form. Using their skills from Monday students will demonstrate their knowledge of inquiry by bringing to class three level three questions on their tutorial request forms.

Target: Students will develop a notetaking method for mastering information in their content classes. Students will watch and take notes on a famous propaganda cartoon, after watching they will work cooperatively to complete an excellent example of notes.
