Week #32 11th AVID


Target: Presenting to a large group, cooperativly learning, writing for understanding and organization.

Students will get into groups and practice their presentations. Presentations will begin on Wednesday and students need to practice presenting the infomation on each of their slides. Students will be evaluated by the rubric handed out on last Monday.

Week #31 11th AVID

Target: Essential Skills and Writing Process – use information ethically; use active reading skills; practice “writing to learn” with notes; ask for and give information effectively; contribute effectively to discussion; practice good listening strategies; participate positively in group activities; record information gained by listening; prepare for four-year college admission requirements.

Using the mobile lab students will work on developing their "Who inspires me to lead" project. In pairs students will work on a nine slide power point presentation about seven leaders who inspire them. Every triat on the tree of leadership needs to used and information needs to be presented in quote format. (See Rubric)

Week #30 11th AVID

Target:

Students will begin developing a resume for their portfolio. As part of their development student should begin working on references and work experience. Many students may not have paid work experience, but should look at volunteer work or community experience.

Student will also chose partners for a leadership powerpoint.

Week #29 11th AVID

Essential Skills and Writing Process – use information ethically; formulate and advance a thesis; produce pieces for different audiences and purposes; use active reading skills; use “six trait” and feedback to edit and revise drafts; prepare for four-year college admission requirements

Students will work on completing the necessary steps to be successful in their prepartion for college. Students will write a rough draft for the "Courage to Grow Scholorship." These rough drafts will be written in research journals.
