Week #17 AVID Happy New Year




1-4-10

Target: Timed writes are an essential part of standardized tests. Practicing timed writes are important in developing student knowledge. By analysing a group prompt students will begin to develop and understanding of important terms and how to respond. Students will begin by analysing the differences between timed writing and processed writing. By using a Vinn Diagram students will learn the similarities between the two and focus on improving tasks that are common in both process writing and timed writing.

Target: Analysis and Inquiry questions will be presented in small groups where tutors can help students find solutions.

Target: Students will finish their impromtu speeches and analyse how they could improve their public speaking.

Guest Speaker



David Algers



Target: Guest speakers are a vital part of AVID. Students need to have a visible example of success. Students will develop questions for inquiry during the guest speakers presentation. These questions will be used to help lead the discussion about student success beyond high school.
